FEAR OF A BROWN PLANET | NAZEEM | AAMER

Aamer Rahman is one half of cult comedy duo Fear of a Brown Planet.  In 2007, he beat hundreds of hopefuls from around Australia to reach the state finals of Triple J’s RAW comedy competition.  After winning the state finals, Rahman advanced to the National finals where he came runner-up in the final, which was screened on ABC.

Later that year, he formed Fear of a Brown Planet with Nazeem Hussain and went on to be nominated for the Best Newcomer award after a sold-out premier season that generated significant interest from industry and media.

In 2008 they went on to perform a sold-out season at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and won the Best Newcomer Award.

As well as doing stand-up comedy, Aamer has also written for television, including two seasons of Balls of Steel Australia.  In 2009 he was one of 10 writers selected to attend an exclusive script-writing workshop hosted by UK indie film company Warp X (This is England, Donkey Punch), Screen Australia, and Madman Entertainment.

As well as touring his standup in sold-out shows at home and overseas (most recently at the Edinburgh Festival), he has also appeared on Comedy Channel’s You Have Been Watching, and Channel 10’s Melbourne Comedy Festival Gala.  He is a regular contributor to Political Asylum, Melbourne’s topical standup comedy night.
